A state-of-the-art production line of refrigerators in the EMEA region was opened in Wroclaw. The official launch of the line was announced by Davide Castiglioni, Vice-President of Whirlpool EMEA.
The primary aim of the investment, the value of which exceeds PLN 45 million, was to improve the production process. Moreover, the modernisation of the production line made it possible to transfer production from the Whirlpool factory closed in Trident last year.
The modernisation of the Wroclaw line of refrigerators was conducted for over six months and ended in January 2014, whereas the commissioning process lasted a few weeks. In March, the line started to work at full capacity, producing single-door refrigerators and freezers with a height ranging from 1.4 to 2 metres.
In 2014, the company plans to produce 870,000 refrigerating products.
Currently Whirlpool is the biggest factory of this company in Europe and the only company producing these kinds of products. The main markets submitting orders for this equipment are Scandinavian countries and Western Europe.
Whirlpool has been present in Poland since 2002. Its facilities located in the Zakrzów housing estate in Wroclaw include three factories producing refrigerators, dishwashers and cookers, product support departments and the Product Research and Development Centre being a part of the GPO (Global Product Organisation).
Whirlpool’s factories in Wroclaw continuously invest in new technologies and product development. It is in the capital of Lower Silesia that the European centre for
construction and development of dishwashers is located.
