In 2015 Nestlé will open the first animal food factory in Poland near Wroclaw. At the first stage of the investment, 230 new jobs will be created. The production of animal food will start at the beginning of 2015, but the ordering process began already in September 2014. At the first stage of the investment, the factory near Wroclaw will produce mainly cat food for the German market.
‘Poland is the biggest market of food for household animals in Central and Eastern Europe,’ says José Ignacio Lopezmalo Perezcarpy, Director of Nestlé Polska S.A., Purina Division in Nowa Wieś Wrocławska. ‘Our factory will be the first plant of Nestlé PURINA to produce food for household animals in Poland. We are happy that our modern and ecological production plant will be located at the intersection of important European transport routes in Nowa Wieś Wrocławska. We consider it very important to show regard for the environment, create new jobs and support Polish suppliers while running our business.’
The contract of purchase of land for the construction of the Nestlé PURINA PetCare factory and the household animal food distribution centre in Nowa Wieś Wrocławska was signed by Nestlé in December 2013. Buildings have already been finished, and welfare facilities, roads, fences and interior decorations are being prepared.
The company assumes that the entire investment on the 14.6 ha plot will consist of 6 stages and that it will be completed in 10 years. The investment is carried out in accordance with the rules of sustainable construction according to the guidelines of the LEED certificate.
The value of the entire investment is approx. PLN 300 million.
